Notice Jackson's hair. And it looks like Curious George- one of Wilson's sleeping buddies- is trying to stop him from snoring! Gonna be great sleeping in there tonight.

Sleeping experiment.
My room- with Wilson's bed still in it- is getting a facelift, so we're bunking with Jackson tonight. We got Wilson excited about sleeping in big brothers bed, but he wasn't asleep before Jackson needed to join him. They were both late getting to bed (Tuesday nights are like that) but after just a few minutes of goofiness, here they are... I will join them soon cause I'm very sleepy too.

Jackson and Wilson have sooooooo much fun together.
Of course the boys sometimes act like...well...BOYS- and even brothers- but really they have a good time together. Jackson is the classic first born- bossy and um, bossy! Wilson is laid back and cool- as long as he is getting lots of attention and the activity is all about him. And they very much prefer to be together. They crack each other up, and that often cracks mom up.
The return of the kid table.
Cousin Kendall joins Jackson and Wilson at their new kid table for supper on a recent Friday night. Soon cousin Ryan will join us and that will make get togethers even more fun. Kendall spent a good bit of her visit acting like Molly the cat was stalking her and exclaiming "PINKY?!" (Apparently that's a cat she knows from school.) Jackson never missed a chance to correct her and Wilson was fairly oblivious. The grownups were amused. Friday nights are a lot different in recent years!
Wilson's half birthday- January 14th.

Jackson speaks the truth.
I didn't have much luck getting an action shot of Jackson during his Christmas basketball tourney so I'll add this cute still shot. He played really hard and had a lot of enthusiasm but they were completely outmatched. He asked me why and I just told him that our team was about fun and trying our best, so he didn't need to worry about the rest. I promise you that Jackson will not be as big as those other kids when he is in middle school.
I know everyone thinks their kid is a genius, so I'll spare you the argument and give you the proof. Monday, when we rear-ended someone at a redlight, he says: "That guy must be from Alabama cause the light turned green and he just sat there."
This AM before school, he overheard me on the phone with my boss, who called to ask how I do a certain function. I told him the steps and said I'd email him a screen shot. No big deal. Then...
Jackson: Why doesn't your boss know how to do that?
Me: He doesn't do the same stuff I do every day.
J: what does he do?
Me: Well, he does manager stuff...
J: How do you know?
Good point.
After we dropped Wilson off at school earlier this week, he asked me what he would do if I had a wedding. I tried not to laugh, and told him "well, you could serve grown up drinks." He replied, "Mom, rings?" I just told him that it wasn't likely to come up so don't worry.
While reading Curious George this week, he also informed me that he learned what "gay" means on the bus last year. Related note: I've started asking him after his prayers every night if there is anything he wants to ask or tell me. There's always something, and it's usually goofy. but one day he'll have something big- to him at least- and I want him to be in the habit of talking to me about it.
Quietly bringing in the New Year.
I took some time off and hung out more with the boys around New Years. We went to the park, went for walks, and in the photo above we're at the zoo with our friends. With all that rest, I don't know how we overslept the first day back to school/work!
This is just a pic I like and I think it says it all!
Wilson is growing and talking so much.
For at least 2 months, Wilson has been talking up a storm! I keep thinking he'll hit a wall, or temporarily regress, but not yet. He often puts the wrong ending sound on words- his favorite is to end everything with a "p" as in "peep" for please. But I am taking all of this for progress. Last night at Scouts, he kept repeating random words during the big group meeting. I didn't really have the heart to tell him to hush given all the trouble we've gone to getting him to talk. Plus, he's about the best behaved child at those meetings! In this picture, he just got busted in his brother's room w/out permission (of course he was ok).
