Tonight marks the completion of Jackson's first year in Scouts and the end of being a Tiger Cub. During a "bridging ceremony," he crossed over to the Wolves Den. I'm proud of him, but I'm also excited because he is proud of himself- and that's the point! In this picture, he's showing off his new yellow scarf, which shows that he is a Wolf.

Jackson becomes a Wolf!
Tonight marks the completion of Jackson's first year in Scouts and the end of being a Tiger Cub. During a "bridging ceremony," he crossed over to the Wolves Den. Quarantine weekend
Friday night we saw the Redbirds play in downtown Memphis, then camped on the outfield with a bunch of Scouts. We had such a great time, but had to run Jackson to the MD Saturday AM because he developed a worrisome rash. He had strep! And since Wilson's ear had not improved on Amoxil, they both got Augmentin Rx's and a forced weekend at home. So... Wilson shared his naked thoughts on football around the world and after a GREAT DEAL of effort and some Mommy Magic, Jackson lost his last front tooth and his ability to pronounce "T."
PTA meeting
On Thursday, April 23rd, Jackson performed with other first graders @ Dexter Elementary's PTA meeting. He was right up front in the middle, but I couldn't get a good picture. He was responsible for an instrument that he "boinged," but I'd never seen such a thing. When I asked him what it was, he told me "trombone." He even seemed serious. This picture was taken outside just after the performance.
Going to a party in G-town
Easter 2009
Easter closely followed Jackson's birthday festivities this year. We didn't get special outfits, but I think the boys looked great.
Because we were so worn out and got rain Easter afternoon, we postponed our egghunt until Monday after school and work. The boys had a good time decorating their eggs but Wilson wasn't that into the hunt. When he spotted an egg, he preferred to point to it and have our friend Sharon pick it up for him. Jackson was all over the place, but we never found them all...

Jackson is 7.
Another milestone! Jackson turned 7 yesterday. The boys and I decided that we should party all week since his birthday is the same week as Easter and other parties. He wants a slumber party- his first- so we're doing that tomorrow night. Since we're not doing a big party this year, I thought it would be nice to celebrate on his actual birthday. I asked a few people over and ordered BBQ and a cookie cake. We ended up with 39 guests and lots of fun. He was surprised and happy, but he acted like he knew all about it.

another story by Jackson
day trip to Shiloh
Saturday we went with the Scouts to Shiloh National Military Park to enjoy beautiful weather and learn some history. We walked around the park some, looked in a cemetery, talked to some experts and even saw a demonstration (only the South's side was shown; I thought it was going to be a re-enactment but found out later those cannot be done in National Parks). We had a good time getting away for the day, but we were incredibly tired afterwards. I love this picture of the boys on a neat set of stairs on the side of the bookstore. They are sharing a funny secret, I think.
Also, they are wearing their new Gautemala shirts recently acquired from our friends who visited there. Don't the boys make them look good?
